If you’ve come to Benidorm, but don’t just want to enjoy beach tourism, pay close attention to these 5 natural pools in Alicante that you can’t miss. You will discover places that you cannot even imagine, true hidden oases in which to refresh yourself and enjoy nature.
The most surprising natural swimming pools in Alicante
Alicante’s landscapes are full of contrasts. It is not unusual to see imposing mountains near the sea or dense forests a few kilometres from arid areas. Nor is it strange to come across a waterfall, a river or a pool of crystalline water where you least expect it. So that you can see for yourself what we are telling you, we show you 5 natural swimming pools in Alicante that you cannot miss.
The Algar springs
The most talked about natural swimming pools in Alicante are in Callosa de Ensarriá. If you are in Benidorm, in just over half an hour by car you will have reached the car park of this unique space.
The site is made up of a series of waterfalls and pools of cold, crystalline water. You can choose to stay in the same place and spend the day or, most advisable, walk and try to know all the corners of the place. You have to pay to enter, but very little, about 5 euros for adults, and 2 euros for children. Children under 4 years old are free.
The Racó de Sant Bonaventura
Racó de Sant Bonaventura is another of the inland paradises of the Alicante region. It is located in Alcoy and is a little over an hour from Benidorm. It stands out for its natural environment, for the gutters that have been formed by the erosion of the water, for the waterfalls and for the pools. It’s perfect for hiking and enjoying cooling off when the heat is on.
Molí L’Ombría
The Molí L’Ombría is another of those perfect places to spend the day. There are many trees that provide shade and it is equipped with a series of services that make it very pleasant, especially if you have children. It is an area for walking, as there are different pools where you can bathe as you go.
It is located in the municipality of Bañeres de Mariola, just over an hour’s drive from Benidorm. Remember that you are going to walk and that the bottoms of the pools may have stones, so take into account the shoes you are going to wear.
Walking around and enjoying the beauty of the surroundings is free. However, if you are going to spend the whole day and want to use the recreational area for lunch, you will have to pay about 4 euros per adult. Moreover, the capacity is limited, so it is recommended to be an early riser to enjoy the experience.
The Gorg del Salt
In the Barranco de la Encantada de Planes, there is one of the best natural swimming pools in Alicante. The greatest attraction is a waterfall that falls from the top of a ravine. It is best to visit it in the spring or early summer, as the flow of water from the waterfall is poorer in the heat.
It takes an hour and a quarter to get there from Benidorm. Once there you have to leave the car and walk. It is also at the bottom of a ravine with vertical walls. You have to walk along a dirt track first and then down some stone stairs. For these reasons, it is essential to wear shoes that hold your foot well and not to wear flip-flops.
El Salt
El Salt is another natural pool. It is in the municipality of Jijona, a little over half an hour from Benidorm. It is a spectacular place, surrounded by vegetation. The pool is formed by the effect of erosion caused by the fall of a waterfall.
If you wish, you can continue walking down the ravine until you find other pools where you can refresh yourself. It is a perfect and different place to beat the stifling summer heat of the Mediterranean coast, in the shade of the vegetation or taking a bath.
Choose a strategic accommodation for your holidays
To enjoy these and other natural attractions, you should look for strategic accommodation. Camping Villamar is in Benidorm, very close to the AP-7. Not only is it close to the main artery of Alicante, it is also very close to the beach and theme parks such as Mundomar or Aqualandia.
If you like the more natural surroundings, there is the Sierra Helada, a natural park formed by impressive cliffs, caves and coves. You can reach it directly on foot and visit some of the most impressive viewpoints of the Mediterranean along the whole Levantine coast.
And if you really want to relax, you have the possibility to access a multitude of services, both on the campsite and in the vicinity. There are supermarkets, restaurants, bars, souvenir shops and much more. Enter in our search engine and select a date to come and spend a few days with us.
