Take good note so you don’t miss any of them.
What are the top beaches in Alicante?
They say that there are different colours for different tastes and we couldn’t agree more. However, few doubt that these are the top 5 beaches in Alicante, although not necessarily in this order:
1. Postiguet beach
Postiguet Beach is one of the most renowned beaches in Alicante. It is located in the city centre, right next to the marina and at the base of Santa Bárbara Castle. It is almost a kilometre long and has all the services you could wish for:
- Showers.
- Toilets.
- Sun lounger hire.
- Beach bars.
- Access for people with reduced mobility.
- Lifeguard service in high season.
It is a golden sandy beach and in the summer months you will find it full, as it is the most popular in the area. As it is in the centre of the city, it is very easy to get there, but it allows you to enjoy not only a day at the beach, but also to go sightseeing in the area. It is also ideal for water sports, as it is well sheltered from the currents.
2. San Juan beach
San Juan beach is one of the best known beaches in Alicante and one of the most visited. It is also one of the longest in the area with more than 7 kilometres of white sand. In summer you will find it full of tourists, but also of people who live in the area.
Its crystal-clear waters are perfect for swimming and water sports. There is also beach volleyball on the sand. It has similar services to the previous beach and different play areas for the youngest members of the family.
You should keep an eye out because during the summer there are a large number of sporting and other events in which you can take part. In short, an ideal option for those looking for a large beach, with all the services and a multitude of activities. What’s more, the atmosphere is great all year round.
3. Carabassí beach
Carabassí Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in the province of Alicante. It is located in the town of Elche and is about 3 kilometres long. You will love its fine golden sand and its transparent waters.
The beach has a large area of dunes and a natural environment that is protected. As well as enjoying a day at the beach, you can take a pleasant stroll around the area.
It has all the services we have already mentioned and is also ideal for water sports lovers. It is not as touristic as the two beaches mentioned above, although we can’t say that you will find it empty, far from it.
Both its surroundings and the beach itself make this natural space one of the most attractive in the area.
4. Levante beach
Levante Beach is one of the best known beaches in Benidorm and is very close to Camping Villamar. It runs from the Port of Benidorm to the Mirador del Mediterráneo, forming a beach of about 2 kilometres. Its sand is fine and golden while its waters are quite clear.
The beach has all the services to make your day as pleasant as possible. It also has a children’s play area and is suitable for people with reduced mobility. As in almost all the beaches in the area, its calm waters are perfect for water sports and there is a wide range of water sports on offer.
If you decide to end the day on the beach, you can enjoy a wide range of nightlife with views of the sea. Some of its bars, pubs and discotheques are well known.
5. Portet beach
This is a beautiful beach located in the town of Moraira. It is known for its crystal clear waters and soft golden sand. It is a relatively small beach, which gives it a more intimate and cosy feel. The beach is surrounded by a rocky coastline.
It is an ideal place for swimming, sunbathing and relaxing. The water is calm and shallow, making it perfect for families with children. There are also plenty of restaurants and cafes to have a drink.
If you are looking for a more active day at the beach, there are also opportunities for snorkelling, kayaking or paddle surfing. There are several companies that rent equipment for these activities.
